Cool to see KC content, but I have a bone to pick...
1. I'll take crime risk over car dependent, pedestrian averse suburbia any day.
2. To be very clear to people watching this: Johnson County is not part of the MO-KS Kansas City City Proper. That is only in Jackson / Clay / Platte county in Missouri, and Wyandotte County / Kansas City, KS unified government.
P.S., if you move here, please consider living and working in the actual city and live like a local. Don't contribute to the suburban sprawl. Actual Kansas Citians can't stand the suburbs and neither should you.

Here in the SF Bay Area of California:
Cons: smash and grab robberies which in turn businesses are leaving, Asian hate crime, car break-ins, sideshows, drive-by shootings on the streets and freeways, homeless problems, drug problems, $M homes even in poor areas, wild fires. Here in Alameda County sales tax is 10.75%. Gas prices hover around $5. Too many cars.
Pros: Weather is moderate, diversity and acceptance, the pacific ocean, community districts in our cities, walkable neighborhoods. Compact doesn't take long to drive from city to city.
Count your lucky stars you live where you live.
