"Vangelis (Demo)" | Upcoming digital single by Matt Ekins

"Vangelis (Demo)" was written, played and recorded in real-time ie it was totally improvised. The drum machine pattern and tempo set the mood and I improvised with a piano preset over the top. On listening to the track back, I was reminded of Vangelis and Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, although I am not in their league.

ABOUT
Matt Ekins began improvising at college and was lucky enough to have had a piano teacher who encouraged this. While at university, he played in both college and city venues. He began songwriting in the 2000s and then, in earnest, at the start of the first national lockdown. He plays songs with lyrics (both originals and covers) and original improvisations (usually instrumentals).
