Hi, I'm Maria Marlowe, a certified Holistic Nutritionist. I'm known as the Acne Nutritionist, as I've helped thousands of people clear their skin from within, using food as medicine for over a decade! I once had acne so bad I refused to leave the house and had a nervous breakdown, but then I discovered the power of food as medicine, drastically improved my eating and lifestyle habits, and my skin cleared up. I was so blown away by the changes I experienced, not just in my skin, but with my mental health and overall health, too, that I changed careers to study nutrition and cooking so I could help others achieve radiant, glowing skin and vibrant health, too.

It's been featured in InStyle and has been dubbed “the most practical guide to healthy eating” by renowned physician, Dr. Dean Ornish.

A fun paper planner that will help you achieve your health and wellness goals.

71 and my skin is as oily or oilier as it was at age 16. I live with a lot of stress, I don’t eat enough vegetables for fiber. I use 2% salicylic acid toner to clean my face morning and night because it keeps zits away. I do drink a lot of water because I have chronic kidney disease.
I will try your tips—thanks.

Going on a low carb diet was the best thing I did for my skin. I couldn't even use a moisturizer before that because it would make my acne worse, I guess since the bacteria was already growing the moisture let it grow faster. Now that my skin is less oily I can use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer, which further reduces the oiliness of the skin

I really really liked how you explained everything so well. The one about diary products having IGF-1 is such a great tip! I hope this works out for me. I’ve had oily, shiny skin since puberty 😢

Turns out that one of the medications I'm on depletes the body of zinc, once I added zinc to my diet my sebum production normalized.

My period is when my skin actually clears up. My monthly breakout happens at ovulation. I've been tracking my LH levels and it happens every month within a day or 2 of my LH surge. Seems hormonal to me.

I am worried that Oat Milk is high glycemic load / highly refined, can you make a video about this? Based on your video I think high carbohydrates could be a reason for my oily skin --- fascinating!!! Thanks for this video!

did you overcome acne or oily skin yourself? Because it seems to just be a trend to tell everyone, just leave out every thing you eat so you can cure ur problem, today... Sugar okay, Dairy.. maybe. But cunsume saturated fat like coconut oil. Nah. For most ppl it is genes and Hormoes.
Plus proven tips? were are the studies. the fun fact is, there is non to be found on exaclty these two topics Acne and oily skin and what contributes to it.

After 20 years of Pain in the a.s.s research into extreme oily skin and my conclusion is this…

Mitochondria dysfunction and Krebs cycle dysfunction, is the difference between someone who eats whatever they like and doesn’t have oily skin, and those who are on eggshells eating carefully praying they don’t look like an oily slick.
Focus ur attention on the above two areas of dysfunction, and drop subcutaneous body fat. Hey presto oily skin is no more.
You’re welcome
