#4 Star Ruby Grapefruit Tree
Star Ruby could definitely be considered the star of its own show. It has bright orange skin that stands out on its own but the real treat is inside when it’s cut open to reveal the ruby-red fruit on the inside. As a citrus, it has evergreen foliage and blooms creamy-white flowers. Like all citrus, Star Ruby needs full sun and a warm climate. If you’re further north than zone 9 or 10 try growing it in a container that can be moved out to the patio during the summer and indoors to a sunny window during the winter #4 Star Ruby Grapefruit, Growing Zones 9-11 (or all zones indoors), ruby red flesh, full sun and gorgeous evergreen foliage.

#3 Ruby Red Grapefruit Tree
Ruby Red is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a fruit with an initial sweet taste followed by a kick of acidity. Try sprinkling a bit of sugar on the fruit before eating to sweeten and enhance the flavor. Ruby Red is filled with antioxidants like lycopene and beta-carotene - getting your vitamin C has never been easier. It’s a fast-growing variety with large leaves and white flowers that have that signature citrus smell when blooming. Southern gardeners may be able to plant outside but for most of us, planting in a container and moving it inside to a sunny spot during the winter is the best growing option. #3 Ruby Red Grapefruit, Growing Zones 9-11 outdoors and all zones indoors, sweet-tart flavor, and seedless.

#2 Rio Red Grapefruit Tree
Personally, I love a fruit that lets you know when it’s time to harvest and Rio Red does just that. When it’s time to pick, the skin of the fruit will develop a pink blush. The leaves are dark green which makes the white flowers stand out beautifully. The fruit itself is sweeter than other varieties with a darker red color perfect for peeling and eating right off the tree. If you want to grow citrus in containers make sure to pick a container with plenty of drainage holes as these trees don’t like soggy soil. #2 Rio Red Grapefruit, Growing Zones 9-10 outside or all zones inside, full sun and perfect for indoor/outdoor growing.

#1 Oro Blanco Grapefruit Tree
Oro Blanco is a gardener favorite with its unique pale fruit color, early season harvest, and absolutely gargantuan size. If you’re not a fan of other grapefruit because of their tart taste then Oro Blanco is the one you’ll want to grow. The generally mild flavor doesn’t even need sugar to cut the acidity. Whether you’re growing in the ground in hot climates or in containers to be brought in for the winter, remember not to over-water and give lots of sunlight. #1 Oro Blanco Grapefruit, Growing Zones 9-11, on a patio 4-11, mild and sweet flavored fruit, fragrant blooms in early spring and does great in containers.

I love Grapefruit especially ones from Harvey Western Australia and the plain old yellow ones are my favourite I'm guessing they are the Oro Blanco.
