Sir IT is different from IS.
IT branch focuses on support for hardware, network and server maintenance. IT branch doesn't deal with programming languages and software engineering but might teach some shell scripting and commands. Good for careers related to DataCenters, Cloud configuration, VPNs, Server monitoring, System Imaging, Network troubleshooting, Support Ticket management etc...Should be ready to work in shifts. Technical career path offers slow and marginal growth. Ofcourse there are odd cases of great success at early stages but not many.
ISE (Information Science Engineering) branch focuses on SDLC management, in addition to software engineering and is closer to CSE. Covers programming languages and software delivery process.
Even non-it companies like banks, insurance, transport, hotels, government offices, Fmcg manufacturing companies have IT department that supports their employees with installation, hardware assets, network etc.. however their main purpose is NOT software DEVELOPMENT. Hope this explains why IT branch is mediocre compared to etc...branches.
