How to Set Up a 5.1.4 Dolby Atmos Home Theater

In previous videos in this series, we started with how to setup an AV receiver, how to setup a basic 5.1 home theater, then we stepped up to a 7.1 and 5.1.2 system. Now we discuss a full Atmos setup in this video including where to put the surround speakers and how to place our Atmos speakers and what settings work best!

This might sound silly, but hear me out.
If you are gonna start playing with atmos, dont want to destroy the ceiling, or you are not allowed to install in the ceiling.
When i first started touching atmos i was not i the position to install it, so here is what i did. I used some of my old pc speakers from Creative Labs, mounted a hook on them and hang them up with another small hook.
It dont do much on the ceiling other then a few small holes that you can seal off again later on.
With this i could try different locations and calibrate. And you know what?
It sounded pretty good, better then side mounted speakers also. Why? Because it was Cambridge who made the drivers. AND you get the correct position.
Now i am in a position to install the ceiling, and i gave them away. And he is thrilled over how it actually made the difference. I know it sound dumb, but it works. I used some of the speakers from a Creative Labs G-500series 5.1 setup.
And it was THX sertified!
Dont ask me how, but dont underestimate them.
But now i have all of the Dali Suite series installed in 5.1.2.

Do you have to have a 9 channel amp to set up 5.1.4 Atmos? Currently running 5.1.2 which has made a big difference with height atmos but would love to add height rear

Am I need to treat my ceiling? Is it really important and have major impact on sound?
