But you're more likely to get $50 if you get anything.

Even if I did somehow have a receipt for a grocery store purchase from four years ago the thermal "ink" would have long faded into nothingness by now.

The only ones who get rich from class-action suits are, well, the "suits."

Interesting, because it seems to be an ongoing problem. Just a month or two ago there was a trend on social media of people taking their 'Great Value' brand bacon (Walmart brand) and weighing it - sold as 12 ounces, but actually weighs between 7 and 8, consistently across multiple cities all over the country.

I'm glad you brought this up. I was reminded that I might have a class action payment coming, so I searched my email inbox. Sure enough, I had an electronic debit card with $1.12 waiting for me 😂. I redeemed it and transferred the balance to my Amazon account for the next time I buy something there.

To get $500 at 2%, you would have to prove (receipts) you bought $25, 000 worth of those items.

The lawyers (sorry Steve) will get their full cut!!

I recall my local Walmart placing 2 lb labels on the 1 lb packs of ground beef. We had words and they removed the product from the display.

Walmart has a detailed record of all purchases made with any given credit card, so it should be technically feasible to retrieve this information - if they cooperate.

Cool, now get them for price gouging labeled as “supply chain issues” and “inflation”.

"2% of the cash value of the items purchased..."
That's 12 cents on a six buck bag of oranges.
This is why crap like this is settled. They damn sure don't want punitive damages, because that's the only way it's worth it for us to even put a claim in.

I actually filled out the form and the maximum you can get without a receipt is estimated to be $25 on the form itself. You don't have to have receipts, but you have to put in the categories of items you purchased and an estimate of how many. What is interesting is that I have purchased out of many of the categories and because I have a large family I have purchased a lot in each of the categories. You are right that the money is going to be nowhere near making me whole if they cheated me, but $25 is better than nothing in the long run because I don't have receipts from that long ago.

Because of my Dad (who was a CPA) and his doctrine of maintaining all receipts, forever. I too have every receipt of every thing that i have purchased going back 25 years. But I have NEVER patronized Walmart and never will 😂😅

Not only would you need to have the receipts, but you would need to have shown that you purchased $25, 000 of eligible products during the time frame to get up to the full $500

I’ve hung on to receipts for warranty purposes on expensive purchases and I’ve noticed that the ink wears off after a few months and you can’t even read it anymore so I take pictures of them now. But I have never saved old grocery receipts.

I 100% agree with you about getting paper checks. Getting refunds electronically is a hassle for the receiver. If I buy groceries and have to use a credit card, I will keep the receipt to attach to my monthly credit card bill as verification of listed expenses on that bill. Eventually gets filed away with my yearly federal income return which I hold onto for 10 years. However I normally pay cash when purchasing groceries.

I shopped at Walmart exclusively for 3 years, because there was nothing else in town but Dollar General (even worse) and Family Dollar.
Now that I don't work there and don't have to shop there, Walmart is the store of last resort after scouring a big city.

I must be out of my right mind!! I have receipts from back to before then. I was a trucker and always kept receipts! LOL

This is just one of many scams that Walmart has. I have been complaining for years that the price in the shelf is not the price you pay at check out, just waiting for that class action law suit. And, with Walmart, I swear they teach their checkers to scan an item and accidently scan it again and you end up paying for 2-4 items when you only bought one. You get home, and have to bring everything back in and argue with the customer service. Now I check my receipt at the register, even if it means slowing up the line and I have noticed a mistake at least 8 times out of 10. That says it all. Our choice of supermarkets is slim, save-a-lot, aldi or publix.

This is where getting your receipt texted to you comes in handy

I always pay with my ATM card at Walmart. WALMART KNOWS I SHOULD BE ON THE LIST!

Steve, I'm one of those people who holds on to their receipts, not in a physical form but they are scanned into my computer and never get deleted. I have years of receipts.... :)
