Video or no video, that shot is stuff of legend. I've heard Jack and many others speak of it. Truly amazing. RIP Seve Ballesteros.

"Mr. Feherty... What's the craziest and/or best shot you saw Seve perform?"

Here's a great Seve story, and golf in general...
I was at Feherty's speaking tour, chatting his life in and out of golf, and at the end he asked the crowd if they had questions.

I got picked.

"Well uh, thank you Mr. Feherty... I remember you golfing in the same era as Seve Ballesteros. He was quite a creative shotmaker - what was the zaniest or best shot you saw him make?"

Feherty:(sigh)"Well, it was back when I played in Europe... during a Match game - me and my partner vs Seve Ballesteros and his.

So we were up by 1 on the 17th, a dogleg par 4. Bunkers guarded the corner. The weather was godawful, or in Scotland, "slightly damp"

Me, my partner, and his drove the fairway, but Seve was in the fairway bunker - (one of those old British ones, where you needed a ladder to get into lol^^).

Wind howling, we all chipped over the corner, then chipped from 80 to 100ish yards, and we all got about an 8-10ft par putt up ahead. I turned to my partner, nudged him, and whispered, 'Nice man, we got this one in the bag'.

Well, Seve walked in the bunker with a three-iron...

He takes a full swing, WAILS at the ball - gigantic puff of sand. It blasts into the side of this cavern, and goes flying some hundred feet in the air...
Lands in the green, 4 feet from the pin, for a birdie putt.

All our jaws had dropped. We were just staring at him.He took one look at us and in broken English goes...
'What? It's a... what you call in english... "Bank shot", no? Bah!"

He tied it up, and we lost on 18.

Wonderful man, wonderful golfer, still so sorely missed. So many magical moments and shots, so many victories, and it was he who sank the putt that won the ryder cup for europe for the first time on american soil in 1987. It was fitting, he blazed the trail, he deserved that honour.

Still my favorite player of all time. Seve had all the shots. Natural beautiful talent. Love him. Graham Daw, Yorkshire, UK

I so wish I was able to see this shot. Seve was my golfing hero and I loved watching him play. He was amazing when he was playing well, but would also get into then out of trouble like only Seve could. BTW I bet Seve didn’t think this was a lucky shot - he never did.

The shot was broadcast contrary to popular belief, it was on grandstand, on the Saturday afternoon while the ryder cup was being played , Desmond Lynam introduced it and I watched it, the camera was behind Ballesteros looking down the line,

Seve's best shot? 1st hole at Augusta, Seve's first round, first time at Augusta. He drove it dead right, ended 'dead' right up against a tree. 30 yards in the right woods, so, returns to tee to hit third shot? No. Seve proceeds to badger Marshall n then Rules Official, both of which denied him relief, Seve claimed tv tower at green was in his line of sight. Seve ignores both Marshall n Rules official, picks up ball, moves it 30' to where he has an opening, hits it close to green, chips up n makes putt, cards a FOUR . . . America's first exposure to this totally classless ahold., Don't bother arguing, I was there, stood right beside his bag n watched the REAL Seve.
