Arguably the best ever European golfer to ever play the sport, Seve Ballesteros played his last round at The Open in 2006 at The 135th Championship from Royal Liverpool Golf Club.

The three-time Open Champion won the Claret Jug in 1979, 1984 and 1988 as well as two victories at the Masters, making him one of the most iconic and beloved players of all time.

The Spaniard was caddied by his eldest son Javier, who was 16 at the time, in what is now seen as a bittersweet moment for fans and players. This was the last time we’d see Seve play at The Open before his passing in 2011.

Here are the highlights of his final round at The Open Championship.

Not going to lie, had a tear in my eye watching this. Seve is the reason I play golf, my idol as a kid. A genius, a true sporting icon and will forever be missed

I do not believe that there was ever any other golfer who was so passionate about the game! Truly a legend!

Normally, I have no problem expressing myself on a subject. In this case, my command of the English language is simply insufficient to explain how this video made me feel. RIP, great man. You were a hero to many!

The reason I started playing loved SEVE even got his ball at the Irish open at mount Juliet ... .it was unbelievable being so close to him he signed two programmes for me and gave like a hundred people autographs at the side of the 18th green. Absolutely a legend the only guy to stop with the fans Genuinely a genius on the golf course such imagination and skill have his movie down stairs and can't watch it without crying even now.

Seve a word of a man, that actually is a description of a tough sportsman, and real legend of golf, a true great. My hero along with super mex Trevino how we could do with these true greats playing today.Fun, excitement, skill, every time they played .Sadly lost 😥

Such a cruel injustice that this great sporting icon never got to enjoy all that appreciation as an older man. Loved so much and missed even more. May not have won as many majors as some but who cares...He had the natural ability married with the passion, the charisma and the looks. That's why he can never be bettered. Seve - the greatest

What a competitor...ferocious and full of fighting spirit. He added another dimension to the game and is why I became hooked...absolutely no doubt about that!!

One of my top 3 sportsmen of all time. Standing alongside Senna, and Ali. Could never choose a 1-2-3...because they all transcended sport, they became more important than their achievements within their sport. Seve was, and always will be an icon of the great game.
