I'm not doubting the importance of sunscreen but I have to ask why it's SO expensive relative to the amount we'd need to be using to effectively apply and reapply every single day. For things like cleansers and moisturizers, it's often easy to find affordable, effective products that will last you months because you're expected to go through so much, but sunscreen? It's expected that you'll pay 20, 30, 50 dollars for less than TWO ounces of fluid on average. Speaking as somebody that wants to take care of my skin but legitimately can't afford that kind of repeat cost every month or two months, I wish there were dermatologist-developed sunscreens that place an emphasis on affordability relative to its necessity. If sunscreen is important for everybody to use every day, then its accessibility should reflect that in the amount you're given for the cost.

I am a 25 male from the UK and now I apply La Roche Posay sp50 every day, changed my hyaluronic acid from ordinary to hydro-boost and have simplified my skincare routine to 3/4 steps now. I will thank you when I am 50!

I hate to reapply...Someone should invent a sunscreen that doesn't require reapplication.

I don't have the money to be using sunscreen 3x a day, let alone every 90 minutes. I just feel like the obsession with ageless skin is so intense these days. I am interested in skin care but watching stuff like this makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong and I just don't have the mental energy to be able to fixate on my skin this intensely. I'm not judging anyone for applying sunscreen several times a day, cause at the end of the day it's your money and your time. But I just find it hard to believe that we need to apply this much sunscreen for our whole lives or else we're doing everything wrong. Does anyone else feel this way? Modern skincare stresses me out!

I work on planes on a tarmac, so my sun exposure is SO high and I physically cannot be in the shade, nor can I avoid the sun during peak hours of the day. I really appreciate how much you stress the importance of sun exposure and protective clothing because for those of us that work outside, it makes such a difference in the long run.

I think reapplication is important but really find it hard to stick to when I don’t sit directly beside a window indoors.

My family rolls their eyes now at my newfound sunscreen religion. Lol They think I’m a party pooper this summer because I don’t go outside with them unless I’m completely ghost white cast with a hat and sunglasses. Tanning is gross to me now. Not about that life anymore, and I don’t care if they think I’m a weirdo. I want to age gracefully.

Can't wait for that video about re-applying sunscreen over makeup! It's a struggle.

I was a waterproof sunscreen tester subject. We had to get in the whirlpool. They tested us on our back.

This can be very difficult to do for people who are very acne prone and break out from most sunscreens. 😭

I don't know about the "residual protection" after the first application. I apply a pretty good amount, and if i apply the second amount.. 4 hours or 2 hours or 6 hours later, even if i apply just half of the recommended amount, i end up having a second layer on my already existing layer which just looks greasy and cosmetically unacceptable for many professions where you would have to deal with clients/customers/colleagues.

I always set my sunscreen with arrowroot powder when I don’t wanna wear makeup or anything else. Doesn’t break me out and isn’t visible at all, just takes away the shine and greasiness. Game changer

My dermatologist once said that in Europe we do not have to reapply that often as people in America because the sunscreen filters in America are much worse and that is why in America the people have to reapply every 2 hours 😬
