The Silent Sea Ending Explained The final episode in the series, titled 'The Silent Sea', reveals what happened at the Balhae facility. After Dr Song's entire crew was attacked and many of them killed, they finally managed to catch the person behind it, a young girl named Luna 073. Dr Song soon makes a startling discovery; the Balhae centre was conducting cell fusion and genetic recombination experiments to find a way for humans to survive the effects of Lunar Water.

Can't believe some people do not like this series, it's one of the best this year, also I like to think when the ship arrives they can revive Capt Han somehow.

It's hard to believe they'd kill off the captain completely since they gave him a second scene after the initial scene where he was suppose to die. I'm pretty sure he didn't die but they purposely let his lights die out so ppl can debate lol.

As I have observed in this series, humans are really cruel. A lot of people died because of some people who have greedy interests. Its sad but true.

Wow, it’s one of the best TV dramas in this genre that I have ever watched. The plot, CGI, and actors’ performance were all mind-blowing. I couldn’t stop watching, so finished the whole episodes in a day. Some people say that it’s a bit slow to develop the story, but for me it was full of cliffhangers from the first episode. It is great to see that K-Drama is making a unique way of story-telling.

its really great to see that k drama is now evolving to many kind of genre

the story might be confusing at some part but it certainly such a great piece of work. love the story, love all the actors and even the little kid acting is really amazing! i believe that there will be season 2! can’t wait for it

I love the creativity behind the series. It was really great. However I feel a 2 hr movie would have done justice. In any case, it was really great!

It is really a masterpiece. I had to pause for seconds multiple times in the middle as it was so thrilling and intense. All actors and actresses are awesome. I love watching Gong-Yoo (not sure how to spell his name) playing the team leader. His acting was perfect and deserves awards. I also liked the main actress for the role as the scientist. I highly recommend this drama.

The ending reminded me of Train to Busan where Gong Yoo also sacrifices himself.

THE SILENT SEA IS SUCH A MASTERPIECE!!!
I watched this with my whole family on christmas day, it sure was BIG christmas treat
I still cannot believe how much thrills I experienced during this.

We all sat down and then finished the entire 8 episodes. I do not regret a single minute watching this, It is my new personal favourite, moon mission with so much mysteries, what i loved the most is how well it just fit to my liking, it was right amount of fright and excitement!

Everyone did amazing but the actors dr Song & Gongyoo and the little girl luna killed the acting.
the only thing that bothered me and my family was the ENDING. ARGH. definitely did not expect it to end with such no answer. It drove me crazy. But please if there is a season 2, I will drop everything to see it. My family and I all had such great christmas, this definitely bonded us together

If you love sci-fi, thriller, you will love this!

Many reviewers think captain han was throw out by the water and died. He did not die.. If he was thrown out, there would be ice all around him!

He was rescued by Luna and brought outside the station. Don't forget luna is fast, strong and can swim in the water.. she already create a bond with him, that's she disappeared toward the end because she manage to go through the air vent to the other side to save Captain Han.

Captain Han didn't die! There was nothing in the last scene that says he died. His suit just failed at the last moment before the ship arrive.

First of all, I was worried about Korean approaching this type of genre because many recent movies or tv shows have failed to create content that has a story and a message. Showing visuals with a stupid story was the only thing I could see from previous Netflix shows (Especially before Korean started to make content) and recent movies. However, after watching all episodes of The Silent Sea, I realized how creative the director is. Many people are so tired of recent media that shows stupid effects and visuals with outrageous stories, but this one broke my stereotype, and I watched straight to the end on Christmas eve. I can't wait for season 2 of The Silent Sea, and I hope many creative Korean directors approach this type of genre. For me, it was better than the hell, probably equal to the squid game.

watching the trailer, i thought this was gonna be another korean zombie-horror, taking on a "dead space" fell. but i was wrong. seeing it turnout the way it did, im glad. such a masterpiece and with an ironic and truth to human capitalism message behind it

I actually really enjoyed the show. Some will say it's slow paced or it's lacking of dialogues / scientific discussions, but I think it's actually perfect this way. Makes it unique and one of a kind to me, and the plot twist is actually something I really didn't expect.

I enjoyed it so much that I actually bought a fan based crypto currency named The Silent Sea! Jump aboard while it's early!

the slow burn is expected especially for a sci-fi. Netflix will definitely make season 2 for this because they are aware that season 1 is just an introduction of what's happening...

Moreover, Gong yoo won't accept this if the entire story is not worth it or good..

My thinking on the ending is that if luna can survive without requiring oxygen or heat then in theory as long as she had a food source and a place of shelter she could in theory stay on the moon
