Stroke is a severe complication of cardiovascular disease and a common heart rhythm disorder known as Atrial Fibrillation (AF). AF affects as many as 1 in 20 (i.e. 5%) people over the age of 65.
"In atrial fibrillation, if you do not take care of it, it can develop a blood clot. So when the blood clot travels to the main artery, you will get stroke," shared Mr Edmund Tan, an atrial fibrillation patient at the Singapore Heart Foundation's Heart Wellness Centre.
This World Stroke Day, find out more about AF and what you can do to reduce the risk of stroke.
