Q&A: Is Gray Hair in My Teens or 20s a Sign I Won't Go Bald?

I was 13 when I started getting gray. I'm 40 now, no hair loss. I'm grateful for that however the stress and persistent comments from friends and family about gray hair at an early age get really old really quick. Thankfully now that I'm 40, I've finally grown into my gray hair and the unwelcome comments have finally subsided.

I got my first gray hair at 15 on my crown. I started dying it at age 24 because my temples were Very Noticeable. I stopped dying it at age 39. I always have gotten compliments about it ! I'm 56 now and it's down to my waist. And yes, you can slow it down with minerals. I believe it to be a Zinc deficiency. There are 3 of us with gray hair. One is my dad and one is a cousin out ""A LOT"" of family members. So, yes it's genetic.

So your theory is people who grey young wont go bald? I wore caps since age 14, im 31 now with lots of greys. Im not grey but getting more and more greys. If it means i wont go bald cool i guess ill just get the dye.

I first started finding grey hairs on my head when I was 9. I can grow a full beard, and my dad had hair until the cancer took him in his mid 60's. He was always gray as far as I can remember. My grandpa on my mom's side has pure white hair, other than a thin spot on the top of his crown that he's had since his 50's he has a full head still in his late 70's.

Being 25 with salt and pepper hair is a bit weird tho tbh. Should probably start dying it soon lol
