Late to the party...

I worked in the manufacturing sector of the music industry in 1998 to 2000...

If you bought any of these songs on cassette tape, the bets are I was the man that actually made that cassette.

Initially the cassette tape itself, the actual tape that has the song imprinted on it, would go through Duplication where the song would be repeated onto the tape that was around 100 miles long in a large spool...
That would then go to the Spooling Department, where the 100, 000 copies of the song on one big spool, was individualised into individualised cassettes.
That cassette, with one song on it, the Single... would then come to me for printing and packaging.

I made batches of 100, 000 at a time of all these songs, on a machine that would print the text on the cassette, box the cassette with the graphic (leaflet) and then seal it in clingfilm.
It would then be hand packed into cardboard boxes and stuck on a pallet for a lorry that would deliver them to a shop/store for sale.
The pallets would contain the batches of 100, 000 cassettes.

I was responsible for setting my machine's timing, the print plates, ink levels, and making sure quality of print and packaging was up to snuff.

Cher's Believe, I was responsible for all 13 million copies of that cassette.
That song sold around 11.8m on cassette... but I made 13 million to cover sales... and I was the guy that made every single one of them.

98-2000... any and all singles sold, came through my hands.

I would then go to the nightclubs on Friday and Saturday nights, and watch everyone dancing to the music that I'd been making all week xD

The amount of stuff in our culture that comes from 1999 is insane. Tv shows include The Sopranos, SpongeBob, and Family Guy. Movies include Fight Club, The Matrix, and American Beauty. And music? Just look at this video for crying out loud!

99 was my last year in highschool. A lot of these songs bring back so many memories, 90% of these are elite tracks. I couldn't tell you one decent song released in the last 2 years but so many of these I know word for word.
