VW T4 DIY Bodywork Repairs And Paint Respray

preview_player
Показать описание
In this video of my VW Transporter T4 campervan conversion, I carry out a lot of bodywork repairs, filling in some small dents and ripples throughout the bodywork and sliding doors. Once the bodywork is finished off on the VW T4 campervan, I then hire a professional spray booth to carry out a DIY respray using the original paint code to give the van a fresh coat of paint to freshen up the tired original paintwork. Once completed, the van looks a million times better than before any of the work started and although done by DIY rather than a professional, the money saved doing it myself saved a small fortune. Let me know what you think of the results in the comments below.

Done a smashing job. No point in eating all your profits up by pro job when the job you have done is more than good enough.

Looks amazing on camera, know it’s a slightly different vehicle, but I am currently restoring a Land Rover series 3 and paint work is my next big job, and I’m bringing it, this video has very much encouraged me. Well done. 👍👍

Coming on a treat. All the money you saved will go a long way with the rest of the Conversion. 👍👍

Don't be so hard on yourself mate, you did a great job. I'd probably have tackled it with around 60 spray cans and ended up with killer sore forefingers. I done a bonnet and a whole side once and it wasn't fun, the sore finger part. Saying that, you can get a spray can tool now. I've got some coach paint in cans to give my van a tidy up, I'm not looking forward to it at all, a little filling also to take out some small dents.
Being able to hire that spray booth was handy and a Good idea, even flies can be a pain.

Looks a lot smarter, after all the only way to learn (every build is different) is to tackle a job next time you know different or that worked! must admit I did & didn't (for his sake, was your bothers purchase)! 😊 now onto your next vlog

Great job, the plastic bumpers come up like brand new with a couple of coat of cheery blossom boot polish.

Looks good but you should remove the paint from area that will have filler, adhesion is better onto steel not paint.

Looks really good, is this something body shops do hire out the booth for diy jobs? Or is it a contact you have.

following because im doing my t4 in the spring, well slightly starting but mostly planning. ive been a certified automotive painter for 10 years, and i just wanna say that your paint job is very pretty, its inspiring to watch you work! ive got a question tho, when you insulated your van, i noticed that you used a different insulation for the roof, than on the sides, im curious why? looking forward to go through the rest of your videos, thank you for sharing this

Paint job looks great. Flat and polish when it hardens and you would never know it was a diy job! What paint is it? 2k direct gloss?

This is amazing!! What changed between timestamp: 1616 and the final product? The shots of it in the booth look like theres tons of orange peel...what made it so shiny in the end of the video? It's as if you sanded it and applied clearcoat?

I’d be happy with that, you’ve done a great job painting the van. Would you consider fitting a pop top before you fit the solar panel?

Have a play with the paint-less repair glue pullers. You'll enjoy that & use a lot less filler.
