I love long exposure photography, and you?

Another awesome video, Attilio. Not many photographers share so much information so openly, so it's so refreshing to see you do that. Taking the time to do this very informative video and share all the links in the youtube info is just another generous gift to us. So thanks.

Mr. Ruffo, your art saved my life, I pulled my old D7100 out again and started shooting again and found a reason to live and love to live. Now it goes everywhere with me, and I find beauty in all this creation we call home. thank you sir! thank you so much!

This is the 2nd video I've watched by Attilo Ruffo. As an experienced photographer and teacher of photography, I am again wowed by Attilo's clarity and humanity. In addition to learning the skills of the lesson, Attillo shares his total and very human experience in taking a photograph. I find this approach inspirational but sadly absent in most, if not all, the the videos I've seen.

Hi Attilio and greetings from Italy. Thanks for all the content you publish, it's of great value and with a style that I like. Probably I'm missing something but I understood that you'll have put the tools of the trade in the comments. Any chance to get it ? All the best

Great video as usual. I find it amusing that the lack of clouds disappoints you. Here in the UK it would be nice to see a blue sky once in a while.

I have a house within 40 minutes of Martin's Beach. I am going to have to go now. Thank you for the inspiration.

I know this is several years old, but just want to say thanks so much for a very helpful, informative, and clearly presented tutorial on taking long exposures. I will be in Venice, Italy in late September (first time!) and I'm so looking forward to attempting to capture some of those iconic shots -- gondalas in the foreground, across the lagoon, looking towards San Giorgio; as well as along the Grand Canal. Your videos are making me feel a bit more confident that I'll be able to capture some shots I'm pleased with. Thanks again!

Man, you made that pasta look pretty good! I didn't realize that is what was missing from my long exposure photos but I'll try that next time. I do like long exposures of water a lot. I also like what I call "longish exposures" of about 1/2 second to one second where there is a definite blur in the water but still some churn detail that shows the power. Long exposures of clouds really don't appeal to me quite so much. Sometimes you get them like it or not, but often I minimize the clouds if I can.

Thanks for another great tutorial video. A couple of questions on ND grads please:
1. How do you align the border of the grad if you put a really dark filter on first, like a 10 or 15 stop? Can you still see through the viewfinder or display to position the boarder correctly?
2. I think I now understand roughly the theory about how one might choose the number of stops on the ND grad, but what are the guide lines of when to use a soft, medium or hard ND grad?
3. I now have a Haida M-10 with CPL and I also got a 10 stop ND filter. Which NG grad might be a safe first filter for long exposure landscape photography use?
Thank you,
Sam
