Building a Mockingboard clone

In this video I assemble a modern clone of the Mockingboard sound card for the Apple ][ series of computers. This sound card is based on 2 AY-3-8913 programmable sound generator chips. At the end of the video I will demonstrate some of the sounds and music that came with the original Mockingboard.

I have an old Type 'n Speak which uses an SSI-263/Votrax SC-02. I was fortunate to get it for only $5 from a local flea market. Reconditioned they can go for over $300.

There's a plug-in module which emulates the SC-01/SC-02 but it will never sound the same as the real thing; Votraxes all sound slightly different as they use an analog vocal tract.

You should use a Resistor bending Tool. If you have a 3D Printer you may print one yourselves.

I have one of these Mockingboards (a clone, though), and I was able to get it to work (It works well with Pitfall II), but never able to get the Apple's beeper speaker sound through it. Have you been able to get the sound through yours?
