------------------------------------------------------

In the ever-evolving world of Silicon Valley, where fortunes shift with rapidity, the name Musk stands out, eliciting both awe and debate.

This family, led by Elon Musk, the world's wealthiest individual, has become a byword for pioneering innovation and bold business risks.

The central question intriguing many is whether the Musks hail from a long-standing lineage of wealth and power, or if they represent a break from tradition, embodying a novel paradigm of success and influence.

Today's episode delves into this query, tracing the Musk family tree back to its roots. We explore the origins of the surname "Musk," examining theories of its English and Dutch beginnings, and scrutinize the lives of Elon's forebears.

The journey through the Musk lineage presents a complex tapestry of English, Anglo-Canadian, Dutch, and Swiss heritages, unearthing a blend of modest and affluent backgrounds.

The narrative scrutinizes the English roots of the Musk family, where early ancestors like John Musk, who wed Maryann Edwards in 1791, and their son Harry, a farm laborer, highlight a humble beginning.

This contrasts with the family's later connections to the aristocratic Norman French lineage, suggesting a nuanced old-money trace.

Moving to the Dutch ancestry, the episode examines the Free Burghers in South Africa, Dutch settlers who became independent farmers, embodying a middle-class ethos.

Their socio-economic status, intertwined with the Cape Dutch and Boers' divide, adds layers to the Musk's financial history.

The episode also delves into the Swiss origins of the Musk family, focusing on the Haldimann family from the Emmental region, known for its pastoral charm and Emmental cheese.

Despite the region's economic significance, the Musks' Swiss lineage seems disconnected from aristocratic wealth, painting a picture of industrious farmers.

Exploring Maye Musk's (Elon's mother) life, the episode highlights her modeling career and advanced education in dietetics, juxtaposing "old money" lineage with modern professional choices.

Similarly, the episode covers Elon's father, Errol Musk's career as an electromechanical engineer and his ventures, painting a portrait of self-made success.

The narrative then turns to Elon Musk's upbringing in Pretoria, South Africa, and his education at Pretoria Boys High School.

Despite the school's prestige, Elon's childhood was marked by financial challenges and emotional complexities, diverging from typical "old money" experiences.

The focus then shifts to Elon's early ventures, including Zip Two Corporation and PayPal, underscoring his entrepreneurial spirit and innovation-driven path, distancing him from "old money" trajectories.

His involvement in SpaceX, Tesla, SolarCity, Neuralink, and The Boring Company further cements his "new money" status, characterized by groundbreaking endeavors and a willingness to challenge conventions.

Finally, the episode delves into Elon's personal life, examining his marriages and relationships, which diverge from traditional "old money" norms, further emphasizing the "new money" ethos of the Musk family.

The difference is his parents had the money to send him to college. A lot of people are expected to go to work or the military. My youngest brother went to Air Force so he could go to college. Most people will not put their parents in the money bind of college if they already find it difficult to pay their bills!

RUBBISH!! I have 2 original convicts one side of my family, a free settler & my GG Grandfather was ships surgeon on a convict ship - His great achievement was zero deaths on the whole voyage out to Australia, but he in fact added 4 extras when they docked in Melbourne ... my Great Grandfather being one! He was one of the first surgeons to set up practice on the Melb. equiv. of 'Harley Street', but eventually chose to set up a practice on the gold fields as they were in great need of doctors out there. He also stood up in Court for the rights of the Chinese labourers who were also working on the gold fields. It caused him a few problems initially, but he stood up for what was right .. something I'm extremely proud of! My Grandfather & Great Uncle are also one of the old Historical families of Qld, as located in the History of Qld book, and & I have a 2nd cousin who fought at the Western Front, Gallipoli & the charge at of Beersheba, was a Lt in the light Horse brigade & awarded a VC, MC, DMC, etc .Does all this make me old money? I don't think it has anything to do with what one's ancestors have achieved, but what we've achieved, by fair means not foul! Boer war would have been money made on the backs of slavery! Not something I'd be proud of! I'm proud of what my family has achieved on their own merit.
Although I give Musk full marks for achieving such wealth in his relatively young life, however .... he may be a multi-billionaire, but it's What Good he Does With it that matters!! One's standing in life depends upon one's morals & values, not on what one can 'flaunt' ... or send up into space with one's name on it. I'd far prefer to own a cargo ship or three, that could ship grain to the most famine stricken people of the world, where I could provide medical ships to those same people in order to heal their sick & wounded children, set up 'pop-up' villages with schools to teach the young children to read & write, and the older ones how to build houses for their villages & repair them as they needed maintenance, where I could show them how to get water, &/or grow sustainable crops to feed themselves and to earn an income to make them self0sufficient so that they could then pass on their good fortune to the next village ... So, all this Old & New money is just old British & European aristocracy rubbish if it does nothing to assist those in need! That's why we have so many problems in the world today ... ! It's me, then me ... then me again ... & if there's anything left ... well, it's me again!

To the extent that he was given a unique view of what’s possible, he had a new money grasp of of what’s possible in the world available to him. It seems his choices reflect independent, self earned accomplishment paired with being rewarded for it. That’s in every child that’s ever tried to please a parent by being themselves. It doesn’t sound like that ever worked with his father. It seems pretty obvious what his dad has always missed.

He is indeed old money with a new money mindset. He has adapted to the traditions of his heritage. Indeed this has shaped his ideology and propelled him to the enormous successes he has acquired.

This is cool, because a few weeks ago, my friend Shalom girl and i did a phone call live, where i was talking about things here in PA to do with the chiropractors and the mansion, and she was speaking on a biulding out on the west coast. This video came just in time, and explained some of the things we were talking about! Thank you! Because our video got muffled half way through and couldn't hear. A few ghost hunter shows went there

Did anyone stop and think that maybe, just maybe they are BOTH old money and new money. A new kind of evil. The mere fact that he went to a prestigious school in South Africa gave him the advantage in life majority don’t get.

Mr. Musk, was made in Saskatchewan, developed in South Africa and briefly in Canada, perfected in the US where he has unleashed his extraordinary talents but, as many geniuses he possesses an Achilles heel .namely, poor judgment involving female relationships.
