My experience was a very comprehensive set of tests to find out my areas of hearing loss. One product only was suggested. In the test room, it worked well, but I was given no opportunity to test it in other environments, at home, in the car, in restaurants, in conference rooms UNLESS I BOUGHT IT. i could of course return it if unsatisfied. Why no loan units. One doesn't buy a car just sitting in the showroom. Eventually I found another audiologist who loaned me four sets of aids, and the differences between them were incredible. Eventually I found one that worked perfectly for me. Sorry Boots, you lost out by not having loan units

I'm watching this because I want to learn about hearing aids. My hearing is not perfect, so why on earth did some idiot think it was a good idea to play music over the people who are speaking. Its another example of an editor who thinks he's Michael Winner when he's just making a mess of it 😞

Hi Doctor: A week ago I was at the audiologist office and after a number of tests, she prescribed me a pair of hearing aids with a quote of $4800, which will be fitted on me a week later. Later at home, I Googled and found the online price of exactly the same hearing aids to be $3200. Is this normal, or am I getting scammed?

Is the $1600 difference quite customary and necessary to cover the service to be provided by the audiologist in the weeks/months afterwards?

Mt GP advised me to go to the specs shop, they do hearing Aids too. I'm not sure what kind of service they offer, but good hearing aids are expensive. I need to do more research into this matter, because its a sign of the times. By the way I'm sure it has nothing to do with dementia I'm mid 70's I live alone and an all able to think very clearly.

pure marketing, Having tried Boots, I had the same experience as @E9B6 below. Very little discussion about the variations available just take the most expensive and let us know if you have a problem which we can try to fix!
Gave me no confidence of professional approach.

Does hearing aid has anything to do with improving Dementia?

That's what the hearing test specialist told us after my Mom completed the hearing test.
