I remember, as an 8 year old, watching the first step from the lunar module ladder and hearing the words of this courageous astronaut, "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Little did I know, that my country and on our long defended ideals, would be continually eroded and abused by policies against the people's freedoms and those very ideals. Thank you Neil, for contributing to a sense of hope and trust. We still however, have much work to do in removing "truths protective layers

R.I.P. Neil Armstrong, one of the very few real American heros. One giant loss for American integrity.

The moon landing will forever be one of the greatest achievements of mankind; it solidified the American belief that we could do anything if we had the knowledge, will, resources and bravery. Commander Armstrong, Colonel Aldrin and BGEN Collins epitomized the intellect and bravery of the astronaut corps. I cheered them on as a small child and thank them as an adult who understands the sacrifice it took to complete their mission. Godspeed Commander Armstrong. We have lost a true American hero.

Or the longer version: "We are that part of creation which seeks to understand all creation. We find the best among us, send them forth into unmapped darkness, and pray they return safely."
