I don't even care that much about the kiss. It's the way that Uenoyama reaches out to Mafuyu and puts his arm round him as they walk of the stage, just leaving the stage to comfort him... that means so much

Dude is no one going to talk about how Mafuyu was able to start crying. Like the fact that after all this time he kept his emotions hidden away and often talked about not being able to fully express himself- BUT after Uenoyama straight up just says "you did good out there" and leaves he started to shed tears. The reason this is so special isn't just because it's a kiss; but because it is the end of an intensely emotional and gripping character arc where both Sato and Uenoyama had to grow and develop as people to reach the point where they are comfortable kissing. Uenoyama had to challenge his beliefs, his sexuality and learn more about empathy whereas Sato had to come to terms with his grief and guilt so that he could start to move past the tragic end of his relationship with Yuki. Both men were stuck still in their life until Sato's song and the following kiss allowed them both to begin to move forward together.

The thing many seem to miss or to ignore is his huge grief over Yuki, not as a partner but as a friend. They were very close friends before they were lovers and he misses talking to him, telling him that after all the hardship, he becomes happy again. He wants to tell his best friend, how he feels and what he experienced, but he can‘t, he misses talking to him...

I don’t think neither the kiss nor the comforting was the most emotional thing. The most emotional scene was at the very end when mafuyu realized that he’s doing okay, that he’s actually having fun and that he’s moving forward

As a member of the LGBT community, this anime is one of the first Yaoi animes (other than YoI and Evangelion) with actual good LGBT rep. Most Yaoi they force themselves onto each other, this was slow and them both coming to terms with their issues. I'm so glad this has been made and I hope other LGBT members are happy with the rep too 💙💙

I love how this relationship is not over sexualized, and actually holds some meaning to it, I am lesbian myself and whenever I used to go out in public with my girlfriend, sometimes some guy would whistle at us, or say 'that's hot', one time some guy actually said 'Can I join?'. It's really great to see some actual representation for the LGBT community, that isn't fetishized!
