Thanks a million for this recording. I wrote an email to Susan&Derek in the afternoon before going to the concert and asked them to play this tune. It's "our song " for me and my new love.. We went from Stockholm to Paris to see them. The lyrics are so strong (it reflects our own lives), you can imaging our emotions when we heard the fantastic intro! This song is going to become a modern-day blues/soul standard, it is a straight descendant of old 60s/70s classics (Etta James, Curtis Mayfield, Isaac Hayes) but magnificently recast for the 21st century. I first encountered it in the outstanding concert film of their gig at the 2014 Vienne festival, the version there is epic and the film made me realize almost at once what a unique band this is (it's shown several times on Mezzo over the years and has also been uploaded to Youtube).
These guys are the real deal, and while they could be said to provide the missing link between several major 1970s acts (Derek and the Dominos, Allman Brothers Band, The Band, Nina Simone, The Crusaders...) they are here and now and still developing. :)
