I give massive props to this series for constantly introducing me to fascinating historical figures I'd have likely never heard about otherwise 😊

This taught me more about Maya Angelou than an entire semester's worth of English classes

It’s so disappointing that I had read a excerpt of “I know why the caged bird sings” in middle school but was never told about the amazing woman behind it.

I had the privledge of attending a talk led by Maya Angelou, and I have to say that she was as well spoken live as she was on the page- a powerful poet, wordsmith, and inspiration.

I was in my 9th grade about 6 years ago when we did a play about the life and struggles of Maya Angelou based on her "I know Why the Caged Bird Sings".

I learned about her during my African American Literature class in college and she was referenced in a sitcom I watched; it's nice to see a video on her.

Never listen about her down here.
We learn something about Luther King in school, and something about Malcolm X, but I never knew anything about Maya Angelou.
I'm glad to follow this channel and hear those amazing histories!

Freeman being stomped to death is still too merciful.

But God you guys did amazing with this episode. Read some of Maya Angelou's in an African-American Literature class which was an amazing experience. Helped that my professor was an immigrant from Senegal 🇸🇳 and provided some unique angles to her story.
