I will exercise patience with my children today, and I will do the same with others'. It is the lesson I am here to learn, and who better to teach me than this this amazing woman.

If anyone needs the answers to the questions (My Perspectives, 7th Grade, pg 82):

1. What are some of the ways in which Vivian Baxter was unlike Maya Angelou’s Grandma?
Grandma was slow and calm, Vivian spoke fast and bouncy
2. How did Vivian Baxter react to her daughter’s calling her Lady?
she accepted that
3.According to Angelou, what would Vivian Baxter have thought about there being an African American President?
She believed it that it wouldn’t have happened.
4. What are two life lessons Angelou thinks people should learn?
forgive yourself for dumb mistakes, and learn from your dumb mistakes
5. What is one reason Angelou forgives her mother for abandoning her?
she loved maya, and maya was ok with that
OR Her mom wasn’t ready to raise children.
6. Explain how Maya Angelou overcame her problems with her mother and describe how she based her advice to others on her own experience.
I.M.O maya just understood her mother wasn’t ready, but loved her, and she suggests that people learn from that.

Exercising patience, I will continue to do. I thought, I lost my mother due to death this morning. I'm still feeling numb, but I'm thankful to have another day to be patient with her.
