Wrong, it’s because you’re dragging the tip against the skin instead of practicing the correct needle depth, you do not want the needle to barely protrude from the tip you want about 3 mm of needle

No no no, that's riding the tube. Hold your tool correctly, adjust your speed and practice pressure control. Remember line in 9, you'll be fine. Shade at 7 your colors will look like heaven.

"Why are my tattoo lines intermittent?" Purposely skips tattoo needle across surface

This is called riding the tube, would not recommend for real skin.

To each their own…I have personally seen amazing work from artists who ride the tube with no negative outcome. It’s all about the finished product which takes lots of practice. If you learn to master that skill and it works for you go for it and don’t let the tattoo police(gestapo)or any one of these other artist out here make you feel that their opinion is the only correct way to tattoo. Busca tú camino. Find your path.

nah u can leave the needle out at the length he had it originally… seeing your needle and where your line is going is a major part of nailing a line ! you just need to put the needle in a little deeper and control the level of depth, youll get a perfect line w the original needle depth

It’s because your hand speed is too fast for your voltage

That's called riding the tube. And because of old school professional reasons it's frowned upon. They used all metal tips back in the day and this technique would tear into skin.

I don’t even do tattoos I’m just learning, every person I’ve seen so far professional or not doesn’t recommend riding the tube

This is called dragging the tip and is only best done when very first starting but not for long...you need to float the needle and be able to gauge the depth you're hitting. Sometimes you want 2mm, other times 1mm depending on the part of the body...the more fatty parts you need to hit closer to 2.5-3 but there's always the danger of blow outs...which is why feeling the consistency when lining without dragging the tip is better to learn sooner than later.

1-2mm deep and the epidermis or whatever it’s called layer of skin is only paper thin you gotta put the ink in the dermis layer of skin which is only about 1.5-2mm deep only deeper for certain situations

So glad I read the comments. I'm learning how to do tattoos and this is a really good example of why you should check your resources.

(Deja mucha tinta atras y no ves como va tu linea)
No corras el tubo plastico en la piel, configura mejor tu suplidor de corrientes y trabaja en tu posicion de mano, hacia donde mueves la maquina y en que angulo va la maquina.

Ive been letting the needle hang my whole career I dont like riding its a mess. To the people out there whats the voltage whats the stroke doesn't matter it just takes practice and trying different things stuff keeps getting more easier. I used alot of give on my coils went to direct drive cordless can use any stroke as long as it more than a 3mm personally. Depth, hand speed, machine speed, an also please learn to draw. Procreate cool but draw some dammit. Tattooing trade is supposed to be a skilled trade thats for people who need to make art its our life, we cant live any other way.

You can ride the tube if you don't want to see your stencil or what's your lines are.
