I'm sure most of you already know this but for those that don't, Jimmy Page did the soundtrack for Death Wish II as well.

Page's acoustic guitar is brilliant.

Basseys vocals performed on that song is top notch. She really killed it. Despite her theatrical way of singing, it’s still a killer take. Didn’t know it was one take. Wow. Some pipes that girl had.

I had an early Al Stewart LP called Love Chronicles (1969) and was surprised to see Jimmy Page credited on one the songs. So when Zeppelin were already becoming well known Jimmy Page was doing studio session work for a little known artiste.

In the James Bond parody, Operation Kid Brother aka Operation 007, you can see Jimmy Page playing in a band at the airport scene. Groovyman!😂😂😂

Speaking of James Bond films…I’d like to recognize the legendary trumpeter Derek Watkins. Mr. Lead, so they called him. Supposedly he played on every JB music score throughout the 60’s/70’s. Also, he appeared on Strawberry Fields too. Eventually he ended up with the James Last Orchestra since the middle seventies .

in the 60 you never thought to make a living playing music, unless you are prepared for that, good music reader. family that support you until you became stable in the music business..Glen Campell did not read music, and he worked in the studio recording playing guitar

The guitar solo in the Who song sounds like Page playing it.

To ALL doubters about Jimmy Page playing lead guitar solo in “I can’t explain”, Roger Daltrey himself confirmed it that it was Page…as a Professional courtesy Jimmy said “at the time you kept pretty quiet, you didn’t go around talking about it”. Page doesn’t want Pete’s ego bruised.

Page was surely the London equivalent of one of LA's famous "Wrecking Crew" of studio musician/hired guns. The big difference being his age; he was 19-20-ish; while the "Wrecking Crew" guys were all much older and many were family men. It's an interesting juxtaposition to ponder; how would Mr Page have fared if he was working in LA at the time? And of course, none of the "Wrecking Crew" guys went on to form Led Zeppelin, or anything like it...

It's easy for me to believe that Page played the solo on "Can't Explain". However, it sounds like something Pete would have comfortably handled, at least based on some later tracks when he would flash a lead - sounds like his groove and his style. Anyway, hardly matters at all who played it. Doesn't change anything regarding the untouchable legacy of either of these 2 legends.

I Heard Jimmy also did some studio work on Petula Clark's "Downtown" Now That Blew me Away 🎸I believe "Vic Flick" did the lead guitar work on much of the "Gold Finger" Sound Track ✨

He is also said to have played in the studio version of Joe Cocker's recording of the Beatles song, With A Little Help From My Friends.

And then there was the time that The Yardbirds called, needing a replacement for Eric Clapton. Page turned them down, and among his reasons was that he was doing quite well at the time with his session work. Of course, he made a suggestion that they talk to a friend of his, and that opened the door for Jeff Back to take the band away from their "blueswailing" period (which was already happening with "For Your Love", prompting Clapton's departure) into their most creative one. Of course, Page got another shot at it with the five piece Yardbirds that will forever have us wondering "what if?" and then he got to join up with another talented session musician to create the proverbial phoenix from the ashes after Keith Relf and Jim McCarty decided they wanted to go off to do something else. But that's another tale ...

I think the sun will be going red giant and there will still be an argument about Page's involvement with The Who. I'm surprised that there's no mention of his having played on the B-side of "I Can't Explain", "Bald Headed Woman", as they wanted a fuzzbox and Page owned one.

fact is Jimmy played the lead on the B side of "I can't explain" "Bald headed woman" much more impressive than ICE.
