Joe's pessimism *bled* through the pages, sometimes literally. This book broke me and left me in a state of shock for days. Truly one of the best the genre has to offer period.

This book did the impossible for me, and this is me trying my best to not spoil anything for anyone, but it makes me want to root for the guy I thought was the biggest bastard in fantasy up until this book. I have a new foe in the First Law universe.

Great thoughts man, very close to what i thought. This book solidified this trilogy as one of the best for me. Something i love about Joe's books is how the arcs dont completely unfold until the last book, so its almost like you dont even know what the actual plot is until its alread unfolding in front of you.

I was in the middle of "The Trouble With Peace" and about to quit because I knew things were gonna be depressing and wasn't sure if I wanted to go through that experience again, but your reviews... sighhhh, I'm gonna see it through
