I like these one minute videos. They stick to only one main point. This makes me to easily understand S1

Sweet little tip! Every little bit helps; I start to get the bigger picture of how the program is structured from these handy minutes.

Great explanation, and cool tip about the macro! Extra tip: if you optimize amp sim presets for a consistent input level, normalizing dry guitar tracks to a consistent level means you don't have to keep changing the input or drive level when you change amp sim presets.

A) Thank You for explaining that Normalization is not evil!
B) Can I beg you, to beg the developers for more control over the Normalization?
C) Specifically, I use 3rd party plugins to normalize everything to -18dB RMS before doing anything else, the near universal standard for calibration with +4dBu and 0VU. Then, you are Gain Staged for any Analog Emulations, CTC-1, Pipeline XT to actual Analog gear, and ALL Dynamics processing. Once your average RMS levels are set, you can see where all of your tracks are peaking, and determine quickly what actually Needs dynamic range compression.

Great starting point for gain staging. I was only using it occasionally for quiet tracks.

Like how you went straight to the point and kept it real ☝️❤👊.

This will save so much time, and remove those inconsistencies in my ham-fisted gain-handle adjustments. Thank you!

This is a workflow really interesting. In FL the normalization has a fixed value and you need to do one-by-one audio file.

For me specifically, normalization is great to get a whole bunch of freshly generated samples up to a nice level quickly.

In my mix template, I have all channels using the new input gain knob set to -12dB, then I normalize all files to -0dB. I prefer this to normalizing to -12dB for two reasons: 1) no gain envelopes on every audio clip (it looks better) and 2) using 0dB makes each audio clip’s waveform as tall as possible without using the amplify wave view feature (also looks better). Automatic gain staging. Thanks for your tips, Gregor!

I know this video is 3 years old now - But hopefully someone will see and answer... In Studio1 - I need to know the difference between what Gregor just did here [1] Select all tracks > Macros > Normalize -12db, - AND - [2] Select all Tracks > under "Audio" > select "Normalize" (top listed choice) ...it makes a Huge difference! How many db is the 2nd option normalizing? or is it just equalizing all the tracks to a nominal level?? The 1st option appears to only raise each track +1db... Click "Normalize -12db" again - and all tracks go up 1 more db??..etc... I think what I need is the 2nd option (Under Audio - click "Normalize"... because I can see a visual difference in all the region waveforms (some get bigger, some get smaller), and Hear a difference in the entire mix - (More balanced?)?... Please Help!! I am so confused by this!!!

I can't believe that this didn't fire off the usual hate debate between believers and non-believers. Much like when you mention "tonewood" in guitar forums. Speaks for Gregor's authority!
