Music only version of Kyle Park's "Don't Forget Where You Come From" from his album by the same name.

LYRICS:
I remember my old man, he worked in the oil field
And I could never understand why
With dirt and grease on his hands, driving home at sundown
Making just enough to get us by
When I left home, I swore I’d make it rich some other way
I didn’t know where I was going, but my dad would always say
“Pray out loud, make us proud, and son,
Don’t forget where you come from.”

A few years out on the road working on the high lines
But got laid off in the spring
I mowed yards and sold used cars, worked nights down at the bar
Yeah I tried damn near everything
I had to find my own way no matter what he said
But the sound of his voice was still ringing in my head
“Pray out loud, make us proud, and son,
Don’t forget where you come from.”

I went home to be by Daddy’s side before he passed away
And I never will forget the last words I heard him say
“Pray out loud, make us proud, and son,
Don’t forget where you come from.”

Now I’m breaking ground on my own oceans of oil fields
Making more money every day
A big house in San Antone, I’m living the good life
I’m back home and here to stay
And no matter where I am, each night before I fall asleep
I always think of what my daddy said to me
“Pray out loud, make us proud, and son,
Don’t forget to..
Pray out loud, make us proud, and son,
Don’t forget where you come from.”

I remember my old man
He worked in the oil field
And now I understand why

Country singer, songwriter, and producer Kyle Park was born in 1985 in Austin, Texas and raised in Leander, Texas, just north of Austin. He started playing guitar at the age of 14 and had written his first song by the time he was 15. After graduating from Leander High School, Park attended Texas State University for a couple years, but left school to focus on music full-time, playing music in the local clubs and assembling a band. In 2005 Park released his debut album, Big Time, through local label Lazy S.O.B. Recordings. In 2008 he founded his own music label, Kyle Park Music, and brought out a second album, Anywhere in Texas. A pair of EPs followed two years later, Spring 2010 and Fall 2010, which were then remixed and combined with six additional tracks to form 2011′s full-length Make or Break Me; both EPs and the album, all released by Winding Road Music, made the Country Albums chart, with Make Me or Break Me peaking at number 53. A fourth full-length, Beggin' for More, appeared in the spring of 2013, and the leadoff track, “The Night Is Young,” was a solid hit in Texas; by this time, Park was playing as many as 175 shows each year, and the road work was paying off, with Park developing a devoted following in the Southwest as well as launching short tours of Europe. In 2015 Park’s label landed a distribution deal with Thirty Tigers, and in October of that year Park released his fifth full-length album, The Blue Roof Sessions. Kyle’s sixth studio album (2018), Don’t Forget Where You Come From, leans exactly in the direction you would expect. Inspired by the style of music he grew up listening to, this new album is a return to Kyle’s signature neo-traditional country sound brimming with honkytonk-fueled fiddle, pedal steel and searing guitar riffs punctuated by his most honest and contemplative lyrics to date.

This song fits me well
Plus it's nice to hear new country that doesn't sound like that pop they call country

I was born and raised this same way! Now after a 6 year break from drilling for crude.. here we are back at it in the fields again of PA and Ohio. One day I’ll have the millions it requires to drill TX.

Thanks for the inspiration to keep on moving forward!

I don't know why but this song calms me down and makes the future not look like such a daunting task

Agree with all the comments that Kyle Park is authentic. I had the opportunity to spend my 31st of December 2021 at a Texas venue where he performed. I did not know who he was before; since then I listen to his music all the time and awaiting for his next album with bated breath.
