First Ride: The New Ibis Mojo 4

Показать описание
It's been three years since we've seen a new Ibis Mojo, and the brand is making up for lost time with a host of changes to its venerable trail bike. Ibis took lessons learned in developing the rest of its line over the past couple of years, and poured some of the magic back into the iconic Mojo to create 130mm/140mm travel, 27.5" wheeled V4. Bike’s Nicole Formosa breaks down the updates and gets behind the cockpit of the newest bird.

Nicole, I actually like my Plus bike, thank you very much! Maybe in your 'hood you don't need plus tires, but my deserty area has a lot of sandy trails, even in parts of the mountains, and the plus tires (2.8" F/R in my case) are necessary for extra traction and keeping control when you hit those sandy or gravelly loose spots, but still great for all-around riding without the weight of fat bikes. 2.8 (+/- 0.2) in wide tires are probably actually the sweet spot for large parts of the southwest if you only have one bike with one set of wheels and you want to ride a variety of trails. All depends on where you are.

One of the best, detailed and honest reviews I’ve watched. And focused on the bikes strengths, not how enduro it is (thank you). And not 29r biased. Brilliant 👏🏻

Seems like a pretty rad bike for doing anything but a bike park. Always loved my ibis’s throughout the years.

It’s a nice bike and even though 27.5 plus is a fading away, having the clearance to put 27.5x2.8” tires on i40 rims is a nice option. Especially if your local trails get sandy and overused like most of my So Cal Trails. The new Geo seems spot on and the new shock tune sounds way better. I can’t wait to demo this Mojo
On other thing I’m curious about is the shorter trail (offset) of the fork to 37mm?

Great review. You’ve always been my favorite reviewer at Bike Mag and I appreciated the review with just you. Hope to see more of your reviews

Nice video and review. Would be cool to see some video content like this on the Switchblade, Ripmo V2, or Sentinel V2... Seems like some of the most popular bikes available currently.

Nice! Thanks for ripley comparison. My local trails are more rooty XC so I am looking at Ripley, but I may try to demo this when the world returns to normal.

It's funny, comparing the Mojo4 to the HD5 is like comparing the Ripley to the Ripmo.

I recently got a V1 Ripmo and been riding it for a few months. Just the other day I hopped on my V1 Ripley and it felt so nimble and fun. My Ripley has XT and Carbon wheels. However, I feel like my Ripmo is just as nimble and may even pedal more efficiently. Damn, Ibis knows how to design bikes. I was contemplating going to a different brand, but couldn't! Ibis is synonymous to Apple!...LOL. I digress....

I wish they would make more aluminum bikes as $3000 is my max🥺
And is it sad I like 27.5+ tires?

Personally, I'm holding off for the Mojo 18, when it will be a 1x24, weigh 12 lbs (with rider), have 6 bottle cage holders and enough in-frame storage for a week long bike packing trip.

LOL. The part at the end talking about remembering how fun smallerbwheelsbarevafter being on the larger wheels.... Now make a 26" !!

27.5 plus a flash in pan, but then mention 2.6 inch tyres, which was where plus was started to mention in 2016 / So the lower end of plus was just absorbed into the norm.

Thank you for a detailed review! Too many reviewers just read the marketing sheet and emphasize L O N G E R, S L A C K E R with no substance.

I don't understand why Ibis felt the need to go with Assegai tires. Total overkill and a great way to kill the liveliness of this bike. I also wish they didn't go quite as long. Anyway, it still looks pretty cool.. I wouldn't mind demoing one to compare to my Mojo 3.

Well I'm disappointed. Where's the 3-panel review I've become accustomed to? Doesn't it warrant one? ...or has it been deemed 27.5" *unworthy?* sucks
