One thing I DO NOT want to see on newer version of the FCP is the subscription 🤦‍♂ But seeing how subscription was introduced for iPad FCP, my fear is growing by minutes.

For show horizon, go to mac settings - go to keyboard - keyboard shortcuts - apps shortcuts - select fcp - write show horizon (its case sensitive so match it with fcp) - add your shortcut. Done

Next time when you are in fcp, simply press shortcut and your horizon will be visible

The ability to identify clips already used, not just in the current timeline but the timeline of other projects within the same Library. Really important for episodes in a series.

Great video. I'll throw into the mix:
1. Ability to edit compound clip while monitoring the full playback of the main timeline [ Without it it's a "Blind Edit" ]
2. Ability to Lock regions on the timeline - so they don't move with the magnetic timeline.
3. Support for 3rd party audio plugins [ Using 3rd party Audio plugins are buggy AS HELL ]
4. Ability to separate Video Tracks as rolls [ similar to audio tracks ] - so we can separate Titles, from effects, from B-Roll etc.

I'll be a very happy editor with these !! and the dynamic link to Motion would be amazing! (We need Dynamic Link to Logic too)

Such a great list Serge. Really hope we see many or all of these in the next update! Also wish they’d give us a timeline on when it’s releasing.. that but during the Mac mini announcement has my brain going crazy with the possibilities.

Also can’t thank you enough for the shout on Picture in Picture!!

Apple is always late to add most functionality in all of their platforms e.g the calculator on the iPad. But once they do release them, they are usually waay better than everyone else. So I am really excited to see what they come up with in FCP11

vertical workspace like in premiere pro or capcut. voice isolation (DaVinci Resolve is the best). More tools for audio editing on the timeline

I would love to see "Storylines" and "Compound Clips" merged, into just "Groups".

This feature could allow users to:
- Open and edit within the group, or edit the entire group as a single unit (like a Compound Clip)
- Expand the group to directly edit its contents within the main project timeline (currently not possible)

- Minimize the group into a single line (similar to a Storyline)

1. Integration with Logic for precise audio processing.

2. A.I features that detect any keywords or phrases. Imagine A.I being able to cut up a wedding speech to exactly what you want based on a few keywords or phrases. Or A.I being able to detect anything in a scene just by typing what’s in the scene. Something similar to the “Jumper” plugin.

These would be my go to.

I am constantly using compound clips within compound clips for my high intensity edits and would love a way to see whats inside each compound clip rather than digging through and keeping it in memory. Something like a column based inspector would be a dream.

I would love to have an automatic beat detection. Right now I am pressing M over and over. And it clearly is not 100% accurate. I am using this when creating dia shows.

Dreams dreams dreams)) They will do a minor update as usual. FCPX got stuck in the past. Unfortunately... All other have advanced much further compared to FCPX.

One feature I really need that almost makes me need to go back to DaVinci Resolve is audio ducking. Currently, DaVinci lets you auto duck a specific audio lane (track) based on one or more other specific lanes/tracks. FCP could do this using audio roles, since we don't have audio lanes.

Awesome 🤩 thanks for sharing this! I had no idea this was coming out soon!

I think Motion and Logic will be connected with FCP. The biggest update will be all 3in1. ;)I know, I am dreamer ;)

Hopefully they’ll add better retiming controls (via bezier curves) like motion and resolve

My wishlist:
1. AI keywording for specific people and voices to find clips that include VIPs in my projects.
2. If I forget to create a Multicam and ranges and keywords for an individual clip, let me copy and paste them onto the new multicam clip when I make it.
3. AI Multicam angle assembly suggestions.
4. Transcript-based editing and searching for things said in audio files.

Cool Video! I really hope, that Apple will introduce FCP 11 at the Creative Summit in 2 days with some meaningful Updates. I found your list good, but personally I wouldn't necessarily need those MotionVFX features natively inside FCP even though it would be nice. But as long as I have access to them somehow its not an immediate pain point for me. What I would want the most is the Dynamic Link to Motion, the proper Keyframing, way easier interaction between Logic and FCP(Dynamic Linking again), better Built in Color Correction closer to DaVinci, better Customization of the Layout, a TeamProject feature, Textbased Editing and then after all these I would want those MotionVFX features natively.

Hopefully Apple surprises us with finally a meaningful and big Update again!

As a newbie and just investigating Final Cut vs Premiere Pro vs Davinci Resolve, why do you choose to stay with FC when it seems other software provides a more robust toolset?
