I saw a video that shows a hack for cast aluminum molds where the mold was taped with painters tape and the cavity was cut out with an exacto and then sprayed with high gloss engine enamel paint. The baits came out smooth and shiny just like the CNC molds.

there are silicone measuring cups for the microwave...oxo is the brand I have but I'm not sure about using it for mixing molds.

What gloves would you recommend for a person like me who has never poured baits before? Also, do I need a thermometer? If so, could I use a standard tongue thermometer?

I don't want shiny soft plastics. Some old pro tournament bass guys rub and stretch their soft plastics to make them dull before they ever cast the lure. I definitely stretch out Z Man soft plastics for buoyancy and to dull the finish a bit. So maybe those cheaper molds make lures that catch fish better than shiny ones.
