*CORRECTION* The screen is glass! Turns out I got ahold of some mis-information. Apparently it IS glass, but it can feel cheap because the display is not laminated (unlike the non-budget iPads) and thus has an air gap between the glass and the display panel, causing the glass to bend slightly when you press into it like plastic would. My apologies for missing that detail!

My 6th gen can run everything my 2020 Pro does. Some apps are more stable even. These are great devices!

I have a 2018 iPad Pro 256gb, I have Beatmaker 3 on here with some other DAW’s and audio plug-ins, this is a dream come true to use for music production, whenever BeatMaker does an update, im definitely downloading it ASAP

currently I dabble on an iPhone 6 Plus, planning to upgrade to a iPad, so this review was very helpful.

I’ve been using garage band as well as Roland Zenbeats Mac OS for about a year now and have only just switched to using my standard iPad 2016 for both and it handles both Daws just as well if not better than my 2012 Mac .
I totally agree iPad is the way forward for the very reasons you mentioned bro .
I have thought about upgrading to a Pro but you have helped me save a few hundred £££ .
Cheers man

Great video I needed an iPhone or iPad to do the same thing you’re doing. Since I needed both I got other iPhone 12 Pro Max and doing great.

Great question. Answered well. Love that you said, "Let's make a beat." and then proceeded to go full musician / producer without traditionally sampling. I spend a lot of time making music on my iPhone as it is always available. Love your Music Technologist title. Will be checking for more of your vids.

If only had this plugin when I was in my twenties. I’d be a billionaire by now.

Hopefully not many people will be downgrading from a USB-C to a lightning iPad so all the things you rightfully mentioned won’t be a thing for most. Upgrading from an older lightning iPad to the 7th gen means you get to keep all the adapters, etc you already have . Lots of good information here. I use a 6th gen iPad which actually does better with CPU usage than my 2019 iPad mini. Thanks for your good work on these vids!

Since quite recently I've been working with
the iPad 2019 budget version (the same one you are using here), and the workflow is awesome! I am mainly using Cubasis 2 with plugins, Akai MPK mini midi keyboard, and recording guitars and vocals via an interface.

For the pricetag that comes with the budget iPad, it's amazing how well it holds up with music production!

I am using Garajband on the iPad 8 years ago, so I was working on the iPad 3 and now I'm using the iPad 2018 Pro

My 4th gen iPad can’t hang any more so I’m looking into upgrading. Really interested in the new iPad Air but I’m on a budget so the 8th gen iPad might be the one.... Would prefer usb C but that headphone jack is VERY appealing

I’m using the new mini with a A12 Bionic chip only 429 bucks. Cubasis 3 also korg gadget with the taipei gadget to control both iOS apps and hardware. No freezing like I used to get with older hardware like a 3rd gen iPad. I wouldn’t use anything less then the a10 chip. If your looking for hassle free production. Yo7 can use a lot less if say you just want play piano using something like ravens Croft.
