As much as I have some biased hatred towards AI, CoPilot will definitely be useful especially on helping finding a way for a solution, or refactor code.
Understanding the code will always be necessary to adjust the solution or fix some issues, like you did with the exit command, which you can either change to a different, or move to the last line so it breaks after saying goodbye, and most code are generated from already known solutions or collection of solutions, so in some cases, it can perform worse

Well... Not sure it can actually save time. As far as I understand basically you have to describe the problem in plain English rather than write code. But for an experienced developer using Python or whatever language they prefer takes as much time as using English, plus after that you need to fix what it generated anyway.
The generated code is far from perfect, e.g. in your chatbot example I wouldn't have used elif and else inside the function, so in fact you have to re-write at least half of this auto-generated code.

Copilot is good, but not extraordinary. It often trys obsessively completely deviating code. And once it thinks towards something, it is hard to get any good results and it just annoys.
