Random encounters in fallout 4 are quite interesting. Most of them don’t really have answers to why. Random recruitable vendors, trapped Brahmins, random synths, guys discussing a bread sandwich, a little girl with a sentry bot, children of atom fighting random NPCs, and more. Very weird, but cool.

The the random encounter I got that I never truly understood was the old lady waiting for the bus lol

They create Fertilizer for my workshops which makes Jet which is lightweight, great for combat, and sells for some good caps. Also, random settlers can be synths, and if you're enemies with the Institute and they attack a settlement, synth settlers turn hostile.
