I think something like a spin brush is an overkill for any soft tops. Just a regular horse hair brush, by hand, I'm already getting a lot of foam from the cleaner I use.

I developed leaks from using pressurized water from the garden hose on the soft top.

Just fyi, he used a hand pump sprayer and the softest drill brush, which is color coded to white.

What chemical was used to spray the top before agitating?

You're supposed to flood the soft top, but pressure wash it... And be softer on the drill brush... No a lot of cleaning power needed to clean a soft top.. even just flooding it after spraying chemicals on it will do the trick...

Pressure washing a ragtop is the absolute best way to ruin it... No problem with the "white (soft bristles)" drill brush but gentle rinse ONLY.

That should never be done. The soft top will never recover and the soap will never come throughly out. You would be better off using a rinseless wash and a interior ceramic coating for protection; making it easier to keep clean.

That’s a bit rough for a soft top cleaning. I highly suggest using something a little less abrasive than this.

The vinyl tops were one of the stupidest gimmicks thrown at the consumers. They were rust attractors. I had vinyl on my 1972 Monte Carlo. When the vinyl was removed, there were pin holes due to the water getting underneath it. It's one more thing that causes problems, and one more problem that can be avoided. Plus once it was completed, I think it looks cleaner.
