Pay nurses better and they won't be job hopping or looking for different careers. It's disrespectful for hosptials to pay a travel nurse $60+hr and full time nurse who been with you for 10 years $35hr. Why can they afford to pay travel nurses this much and not full time staff?

Give them safe patient ratios, give them real lunch breaks, give them working equipment, give them more nurse aids, give them supportive work environments. There is so much wrong with nursing and it shows the hospital CEOs take profit over patient safety.

I dropped out of nursing school and have zero regrets. The world is screaming “we need more nurses” but have no idea what nurses are actually going through. You are everyone’s punching bag and then told you’re a “hero”. It’s gross. Nurses deserve better.

Retirement accounts for a small percentage of why there aren't enough nurses...we are tired of being abused by patients and hospital administrators...we are not being paid our worth, we are working at unsafe nurse to patient ratios...hospital administrators ask your nurses why they are leaving bedside and address those issues...

Ask us why we have left nursing in droves.

It’s not a nursing shortage is the fact that nurses don’t get paid well enough to do the things that they do

Dr's today do NOT know how to prescribe either. Where I work as a nurse of 21 years, long term care we NEVER have the proper PRN's. No Ativan, No seroquel, Pt's bw/severe pain being prescribed Ultram 25 MG's not the whole 50 MG's. It's ridiculous. I refuse to do this anymore. Ive never worked woith these restrictions.Of course everyone is an OPIATE addict right?? Even 80-90 year olds. They are horrible. Think about Pt's for once MD's, NP"s, PA's. Learn how to prescribe.

Bring back teaching hospitals. Teach classes and all clinical in one dame building. All that dame ripping up and down the road to different locations for clinical is pure madness. Get rid of those pre nonsense classes. These schools are all about profit. These hospitals and Long Terms all for-profit

A friend of mine who was working as a Per Diem (as needed) was let go by Brow Gen Med Hospital because she could not commit to mandatory 5 shifts a month. She already has a full-time job as a RN at another prestigious hospital (Jackson Memorial). She willing to play it by the ear and work even more than 5 shifts based on her personal life. That was not agreeable to BHMC. Instead of working with her, the powers to be let her go. They are banking on hiring new nurses jeopardising safety of the patients and nurses alike due to perilous patients: RN ratio. This is a systemic and chronic problem. BHMC has probably never heard of the adage, a bird in hand is worth two in the bush.

*_*Can we lower back the nursing degrees to associate for registered nurses and possibly something of a fast-paced track for doctors shorter than 7 years?*_*

it's the mandates causing the shortage. Stop spinning it.

The shortage is due to lack of nursing leadership. Period.
