Orbiting the sun at a distance of 141.6 million miles (210-million kilometres), Mars is the fourth planet from the sun. With a diameter of 4,228 miles (6,804 kilometres), Mars is the second smallest planet in the solar system after Mercury. Other than Earth, Mars is perhaps the most studied planet in the solar system, and when we begin to understand the Red Planet, it’s easy to see why.

The Martian surface is an alien, yet somewhat familiar, landscape. Perhaps one of the most striking aspects about Mars is its similarities to the Earth. The axis of Mars is tilted by about 25 degrees, nearly identical to Earth’s tilt. The result is that a day on Mars is only about a half hour longer than on Earth. Mars is about half the size of Earth and only about 11% the mass.

Wonder if NASA can display a map where the rover is at on the surface. Would like to see mariner valley. Might be the best location for a colony?

This is not a red atmosphere filter but rather the natural color of Mars. A blue sky appears when the images are changed to show more detail under earth lighting.

What I'm wondering is how can we breathe on mars? Are some areas of the planet higher oxygen concentration compared to others along with some areas having intense heat while other areas have intense cold? I'm sure we'll find the best areas to build a city in.

That "selfie", where is the mast holding the camera, maybe the helicopter took that?

If a new rover is ever landed on Mars. This rover should be designed to fold into itself when a Dust Storm blows through. Reserving electricity and protecting its Solar Panels.

After the dust storm ends, The Rover will Unfold itself and unfurl its solar panels. It will then charge up all of its batteries and proceed with its missions.

The rover should be designed to circumnavigate the whole planet of mars, and if it discovers another rover that had gone silent because of the dust, it would utilize a special brush to brush off the dust from the rover so it’s panels can get the sun.
