I'm 66 and when the Viking mission landed in 1976 I was glued to the TV when the first photos came in. For some reason I could never figure out there was almost no public interest in this, probably the most significant event in history to date.

I know that humans are hardwired for connection with other humans and forms of life but I can't help but feel peacefulness and beauty in seeing a place with no life. Just sky and landscape. There's something very pure about seeing this.

Awesome pictures, I remember sitting in 2nd grade, and thinking how cool it would be to see Mars. Now we have the capability to view the planet and soon we will have people in these pictures..

3:47 Wow! Round pebbles! They can only form in water, not on dry land. Sand is incapable of smoothing out rocks to this extent!

It`s hard to believe that those pictures are not taken on the Earth but on Mars. Mars is just like a twin brother of the Earth, but we cannot live there without space suits.

The most spectacular image of all, they don't have a label for! That is what appears to be a substance similar to staghorn coral(at 1:44)!

The ice crater at 6:54, is this image colourised or is the blue actual ice currently in the carter?
