Instagram went downhill ever since they got rid IGTV and started copying TikTok with reels

My two cents here: It is always that way in any business. In order to stay relevant, they did the same with Snapchat, introduced Stories and other things just to keep people on their platform and look "innovative". Unfortunately, they are constantly seeking out what their biggest competitors are doing, and not focusing on how their users feel about the changes they implemented, or even if they are needed, it's just a bad business practice. But if it works for them and generates revenue, they will keep on doing it.

To be honest... I'm not sure why anyone is surprised. Zuckerberg has been saying video is the future since before they released stories.

every business has to adapt or die, right? That counts for Instagram but it ALSO COUNTS for the Creators, Influences or whatever else.

I'd argue that the photographers that seem to whinge more than my toddler aged sister would have greater success at promoting their photography through reels (& TikTok) by utilizing creativity in their videos and showing off their photography that way. I don't know... it seems like a lot of fuss over nothing.

Reels is interesting too. My best TikTok videos (which avg. 2mil views) are usually my worst Reels videos, while my best Reel is usually my worst TikTok video.... & They're the same videos.

From a marketing point of view, I think Reels has its place to serve a different audience than TikTok & I think that's the differentiator that no one wants to talk about.

Time will tell I guess. Good video.

If Snapchat would bring back the 10 second limit for still photo snaps, and get rid of story title cards, it could actually come back.

I get why IG is trying to stay current. However, in my opinion, Reels are making the platform too chaotic and loud. I've started to spend more time on Linked In.

It's terrible since all the changes have occurred. Too many silly reels and not enough attention payed to the average user. Zuckerberg's ideas have a habit of flopping. He should fire himself.
