Back in 1987 myself and a couple friends took a wrecked Yamaha Seka 750/ shaft drive and made a "go-cart" using motor, transmission, electronics and some golf cart components. One of those friends had a highpo mechanics shop in Little River SC. Chrome molly tubing frame and we were in the process of fabricating a fiberglass body which untimately our goal was for it to resemble the look of the "Malibu Grand Prix" cars used in the franchise of the same name. I can tell you as a speed freak and motorcycle drag racer, it scared the crap out ouf me lol. Never clocked so i do not know how fast it actually was. All i know is, through proper modification at 60mph indicated it was the same as a trailing car escort on US 17 between Little River and Cherry Grove SC. The speedo read to 160 when it was on the bike frame and it would bury the needle. At 2 inches off the ground 60 or 70 mph would scare you. My bike could do 180mph in the quarter mile. This little demon was at least just as fast. And that 2 inches? Speed was an addiction for me. That little bastard cured my illness🤣

I raced a KT100 for a few years. These super karts are insanely quick. I'll never forget on a practice run being passed by John Hamilton halfway down the Ruapuna Straight, I was doing about 140kph and he was doing about 210kph. Still good fun in the KT though doing 160kph with your bum an inch off the ground!

I had a friend 50 years ago that had a cart powered by dual west bend engines that was very fast. He would go out trolling for cop cars and just run off and leave them.
