In commercial insurance a common practice is the people/companies that we do business with will ask us to be added to your insurance policy as an additional insured, but what the heck does that mean, and what is the impact to you once that happens?

By Definition: Additional Insured — a person or organization not automatically included as an insured under an insurance policy who is included or added as an insured under the policy at the request of the named insured.

When this becomes common practice, you need to have an in-depth conversation with your insurance agent as to what is the best practice when it comes to properly covering yourself, and those that you do business with.
