The Harsh Reality of Owning a Grocery Store.

I want to forewarn everyone this video is not to discourage anyone from starting a grocery store. I simply made this channel to show you the reality that no one will ever tell you about being a business owner, specifically running a grocery store. I know I say that in almost every video but it is the truth I believe people can do very well owning a small grocery store or convenience shop, they should just be aware of what they are getting themselves into beforehand.

Running a grocery store isn't as easy as it seems! I wanted to give you gives a raw feel to what I really think about owning a grocery store. These thoughts can be applied to anyone who owns a business but I think its particular to the grocery industry. It is a gruelling battle day in and day out for sometimes just to break even or even a loss. In this video I mention the daily challenges, from juggling inventory to handling unexpected expenses.

Worst business to own....Alot of expenses and extremely low sale transactions.... $5000 to $10, 000 per month rent, utilities and inventory and bills ....$10 sales transactions of candy, soda, gum, lottery tickets, cigarettes, need ALOT of customers just to break even

I can relate to a lot of what you said, as i had a grocery store in my early 20s. I had to throw in the towel.

I’ve owned a lot of different businesses
2 different cigarette/tobacco outlets
A hair and nail salon
An apothecary
Cigar shop for 12 years
A commercial painting co
On top of flipping a house or two every year for 15 years
And one year of owning a produce store. And by far the produce store was the hardest most time consuming lowest margin business I have ever been in. You gotta be married to the place and for not very much does.
