Great question, however realistically you would have to blow a Fox 40 whistle continously for 8 hours for it to possibly result in any hearing loss. The sound created is omni-directional, meaning the sound is projected away from you. Our whistles are made to be loud, whether for a referee to call attention in a loud and crowded stadium, a SAR professional outdoors, or for someone in distress.

We advertise it as 120+ dB (it's between 120-121, not 125). Both the Sonik Blast and Sharx are equally the loudest. The original Sonik, made until 2009 before we re-engineered it to produce the Sonik Blast, was close to 125 dB.

How can you blow this without hearing protection? I bought my Fox40 Classic and I always need to plug my ears if I want to retain my hearing LOL
