In the UK military SAR we have since WWII used the ACME Thunderer but I have switched to the Fox 40 Sonik Blast CMG.

You should have at least mentioned that the classic has indeed 2 sounds - you can close either whole to produce different signals - combined you hear both tones. So it gives you 3 different signals. Low/High/Both

My opinion: the classic is actually superior if used indoors. There's just something in the way it distributes the sound all around...
For outdoor usage, the SB will make a better result.

P. S. There is indeed a Fox40 Classic +CMG variant so you can enjoy both the modern teeth cushioning along with the traditional sound of a vintage Classic 😀
