I loved the option that existed on Backup and Sync, I could choose to don't delete files in the cloud when I deleted them in my computer, that way I could use google drive as a cloud storage.
Since I updated to Google Drive desktop, all those files stored on the cloud is being downloaded to my computer and I don't have space for everything in my hard drive. That is a big problem to me. Any work around?

When I open up Google Drive (G:), I only see My Drive. How do I get the PC I am backing up onto Google Drive to show up within Google Drive (G:)? Does it not show up because I am only working off one PC?

How do I sync a folder FROM my Google Drive TO my computer? I do not want to stream everything, There are things I absolutely need on my computer. And I certainly do not want to mirror my entire drive to my computer. I just have one folder I need synced. This used to be so easy in Backup and Sync.

I have my google drive backing up my photos folder which is on an external hdd. I can access it on my iPhone using the google drive app. Any edits I make to the photos names on my drive app don’t sync back to my hard drive. Is there a way to do this?

I have a primary computer that uploads to google drive. The files are mirrored and upload perfectly. I then have a secondary computer that is not always connected to the internet (on the road) that has a different google account. My primary computer has "shared" folders/documents with the secondary accounts drive. This secondary computer is having all kinds of issues using these files while offline. How do I get the secondary computer to use/edit these files offline. I have it mirrored but in the explorer (mac) the only way to access the drive is via internet. Where do I file the local files to edit off line in this scenario? thank you for your video and help!

My problem is that with Backup and sync I had my PC and my laptop sync the same folder, where every change I make in the folder change in both of the computers. But, now I only have the option to sync the folder in one computer and not both.

I recommend you test out this software first as some people are reporting issues but as of October 1st 2021, Backup & Sync has reached end of life. Personally it's running perfect for me on 5 different computers with Windows 10 / 11. Make sure you pause or make exceptions to Google Drive from your antivirus and run the install as admin.

I managed to have the Google drive for desktop set up on my laptop and got the G: drive on my laptop which was perfect as that's exactly what I needed. I copied a lot of files from my Google drive to my USB storage using windows explorer drag and drop which is exactly what I was looking to do, but now all of a sudden, I have lost the G: drive off my laptop/windows explorer but can still access my files off the Google drive desktop app.

Any idea how I can get the G: drive back on my windows explorer?

Thanks for your video, but unfortunately it does not work on my pc. I used backup and sync for a few months, but after switching to Drive Desktop the synchronisation suddenly stopped working. I reinstalled the program a few times now, but after installing it, it does not ask me to sign in with my google account and the little icon in the windows taskbar does appear sometimes, but sometimes its also grey or not visible at all, no matter what I try. When I try to open the program via the start menue or the little icon in the task bar, it always closes itself. Do you have an idea why?

Is anybody else having the issues of Google drive desktop redownloading your offline files everyday? I am working on a big video project, all my footage is available offline with the green tick. But at random Google drive will decide it needs to redownload the footage, essentially bricking my editor

I still have old google drive folder AND the new one with a copy of the old one (2 google drive folders). I also have a Photo folder without photos AND google photo with all my photos. Looks complicated and dont know how it works

I have Google Drive installed on my PC but seldom access it from the drive on my PC, since I use the Chrome Browser on my PC at home and use a Chromebook when I travel. I access the cloud version of the drive from either computer, so the version stored on my PC is just a backup of what's in the cloud. Googles cloud service is only a couple bucks a month, the cheapest in the industry. Without it I couldn't access what's on Google Drive from my Chromebook. The cloud and PC drive are automatically synched. I've set up the PC and Chromebook to appear identical on the two computers. The Chromebook boots up in seconds, the PC takes several minutes, so the Chromebook is much more convenient for road use. If the Chromebook is stolen or damaged while on the road, I can just buy a new one and log on. If the same thing happened to a PC, I would have to install all the software again.
