Song Of The Sirens

Honestly, Sirens have to be one of my favorite mythical creatures, and I always like hearing different variations of their hypnotic voices, so here’s my little contribution.

Fun fact: studies show that one of the few logical possibilities for the sailors thinking "sirens" were singing to them, is because of whales. They make mating calls very similar to how they described their songs.

It is said that sirens were the women that were thrown in the sea because sailors thought that having a female on the ship was bad luck. Their singing was an expression of their sadness as well as a revenge anthem that would lure their killers towards the same fate. Hauntingly satisfying.

I also think the danger is the more you hear the more beautiful the song becomes. When it turns from haunting and scary to hypnotizing and gorgeous for you, you can consider yourself a goner.

Imagine being in the middle of the ocean and suddenly in the dark you hear a woman singing somewhere out in the darkness.
I’d be freaked out as wel as amazed by the beauty of it.
And in the confusion they make their move as their singing slowly approaches until you can faintly see a silhouette of a person.
Followed with a stunning scream and the crushing pressure of the deep ocean.

A man was sailing in his boat in the atlantics, until he heard eerie but addicting singing vocals coming from the water, he had put his hand in the water, wanting to feel the warmth of the atlantis, until he had felt something... Silky on his hand? He tried to get his hand back but the water, no, something or someone was pulling on his hand forcefully as if trying to get him into the oceanic nightmare, it was no longer until he had lost his stamina and strength that he didn't realized he was already in the dark water, he couldn't see anything but despair on his death, and then the same sound was coming again, but this time it's getting closer to him, he tries to find something to cling on but in the blackest of the waters he couldn't, a terrifying face shows up, takes his head and pushed him down further into the darkness, while on the other hand, his friends never noticed his disappearance, so they moved on...

In the story of The Odyssey, as Odysseus and his crew approached the Sirens territory, he ordered his men to cover their ears with wax and tie him tightly to the ship's mast so that only he could hear the sirens' music and they would all pass unharmed.

Why did Odysseus do this instead of covering his ears with wax like his crew? Because the Sirens are able to sense when their music has ensnared a victim and will wait patiently for their prey to come to them. If no one on Odysseus's ship had been entranced by the Sirens' music, the Sirens would've sensed this, and would have attacked the whole ship themselves and killed the whole crew. By securing himself to the mast and letting himself be entranced by the Sirens' music, Odysseus was able to trick the Sirens and enabled both his ship and his crew to pass safely through their territory.

She was lonely, all she ever knew to do was call out Men who headed toward her Kingdom. If they reached, all tales would be true, humans would invade and treat them like pets. Someone gave her a gift, in order to protect her home, she was able to feel in the water, of mans touch. But one day, she sensed a good feeling. Out of curiosity, she drifted too far out. Lost and confused, she saw him. A handsome prince. Out of love, she fell for him, leaving her kingdom unguarded, weeks later, she overheard him speaking about attacking a siren village, in panic, she swam as fast as she could to her castle, to find it in ruins. She made up her mind. Love is a trick. It cant be trusted. Men go sailing but never come back. They say she changes her home every 10 years, and eventually will arrive at the mainland, to let every human feel the wrath of heartbreak.
