From the short: PICTURE PALACE 1934
Dawn O'Day may not have been the best dancer or actress of the 1930's but she was certainly very pretty and had a certain charm about her that I kind of like.
Update: I've been informed that this is in fact young Ann Shirley who was a popular actress in the 1930's and 40's. If so, her acting definitely improved.

According to Wikipedia
Dawn took the stage name Anne Shirley from a character she played in the movie Anne of Green Gables. She went on to be nominated for an Oscar in 1937 for her role in Stella Dallas.
She started out as a child actress and was 16 in this movie. She retired from acting in 1944 at the age of 26.

TCM has a clip of Anne Shirley in 'The Key' under this Dawn O'Day bio, so it seems to be confusing. Imdb has it wrong all together, crediting Anne Shirley in this film and in 'Private Lessons' instead of this Dawn O'Day. They do have a bio for this Dawn O'Day linked to a still of her from 'Private Lessons', but it only credits her for the soundtrack. I understand the mix up with the same name, but the film opens with large marquee style credit of 'Hal Le Roy' and 'Dawn O' Day', and her character in the film is Dawn O' Day and Anne Shirley is not in it.
