From the short: PRIVATE LESSONS 1934
Very nice dance routine featuring Hal Le Roy, Barbara Mac Donald (the blond) and Dorothy Dare.

This was Dorothy Dare's second time on screen, in a 'Broadway Brevity' made at Vitaphone, Brooklyn. It may be ominous that none of its few reviews name-check her, but they praise Le Roy and O'Day.

NeverthelessDare was lured from Broadway to Hollywood, where Jack Warner promised to groom her for feature stardom as a possible replacement, with Hal, for Dick Powell and Ruby Keeler. But nothing much eventuated except minor roles, e.g. in a Cagney programmer and way down the cast of Berkeley's 'Gold Diggers of 1935'- below Gloria Stuart, Alice Brady and Wini Shaw of 'Lullaby of Broadway' renown.

WB, which was losing its primacy in musicals, let Dorothy go in 1937. She married in 1942 and quit the biz for keeps.

Sweet little number! I love Dorothy Dare. Another bright dancer-singer with a zippy personality that made too few films. A few years ago, someone who posted here claimed to be Dorothy Dare's son! I think he was unmasked as a faker, but I have to him him credit for choosing such a lovely lady as his 'mom'.
