I've always thought the right preposition to use with "foot" was "on". Ex.: One goes somewhere on foot. So is it wrong to use "on"?

When one says "Vado a mangiare" it can only mean that you are actually going somewhere to eat. It can not be used to mean that you intend to eat, i.e. Eat at some point in the near future. It is important to note this difference from the possible meanings in English.
